While Lev is still fundamentally the same person described in the original application, he has also been shaped by his experiences in Deerington.

He was able to meet and become friends with kids his age for the first time. Boys that were, like him, outsiders and hiding parts of their identity. Lev was able to be honest about who he was for the first time, outside of Abby and Yara, and it was refreshing and empowering. Lev felt seen and heard for the first time. Like he was really just one of the boys.

Lev also started a romantic relationship with another boy, Nico di Angelo. It was especially affirming to him to have someone who saw him as attractive. He was able to share and be himself in a way that he never could have before. They shared feelings of unappreciation by their parents and had both lost an older sister. Being with Nico made Lev happier than he'd ever been.

Eventually, Lev came to view Deerington as home and was reluctant to leave, even in the face of his most important person, Abby, desiring to leave. This caused a massive conflict between the two of them where they did not speak for days, which was strange as, before coming to the town, they had been the only company the other had in years. However, they eventually reconciled, with Abby affirming she would stay in the town for Lev. Which was strange for Lev as no one, other than his sister, had ever sacrificed on his behalf. Despite the conflict, they grew closer.

Unfortunately, then trouble hit. Lev, while trying to help others as the city of Deerington fell apart, was killed by one of the monsters prowling the city. During that time Nico departed the city. When Lev returned to life, he was deeply hurt by the loss of his partner and blamed himself, feeling like Nico left because he'd felt Lev abandoned him.

So Lev was left in an unsteady place. He, once again, no longer had a home and only an uncertain future. Deerington had left him more confident in himself, but more unsure about what sort of future existed for him and, truthfully, what sort of future he wanted to actively find for himself. Still, the only thing to do was move forward. So despite the confusion and loss weighing on him, Lev stepped forward through the gate to a new world.
